Ariel, the beautiful young mermaid, is fascinated by the world of men. She spies on Prince Eric and falls head over heels in love with him. Her father, King Triton, is not happy about this. He sends Sebastian the crab to keep an eye on Ariel. Ursula the sea witch is willing to grant Ariel's wish to become human in exchange for her beautiful voice. In this way, Ursula hopes to take over the kingdom of Triton. During a storm, Ariel saves Prince Eric from drowning. Eric falls in love with the mermaid turned human, but Ursula lures him into a trap. Ariel, who can no longer speak, cannot warn him.
